Be The Media! Workshop with Andrew Lynn and Victoria Kereszi: How to Deconstruct Your Television – A Media Primer for Youth and Parents

This hands-on workshop will change the way you watch TV forever! It will give young people and adults a basic introduction to critical thinking and media literacy as well as a behind-the-scenes experience of creating messages. First, an interactive presentation will explore advertising, identity creation, and the role that media plays in our everyday lives. Then, the group will make media messages of their own using video cameras, microphones, and collective creativity. Participants will break into groups and work together to brainstorm ideas, storyboard the shots, and shoot short public service announcements on issues close to them. The finished pieces will then be screened for the entire group.
