7 PM Weather Underground Meets Occupy Wall Street
David Gilbert’s new book, “Love and Struggle: My Life in SDS, the Weather Underground, and Beyond,” sparks a dialogue about what social justice movements can learn from each other. Currently serving a 75 year to life sentence in the New York State prison system, Gilbert chose a political path–an Eagle Scout turned member of the Weather Underground. A panel of today’s young activists will talk with ’60s revolutionaries about their common struggles, grounded by critical exchange and self-reflection. Panelists include Naomi Jaffe, Barbara Smith, Jeff Jones, Dan Lyles, Laura Travison, and Victorio Reyes and special guest Larry White, co-founder of The New Jim Crow Movement to End Mass Incarceration.
