Participants have the option of bringing strands they’d like to weave into their project or share with others (Think of it as a fiber potluck!). Fibers that are a standard yarn thickness will be easiest to weave with. These might include fabric scraps, ribbon, hand-spun wool, etc. If you want to add tiny embellishments like buttons, shells, beads or charms, you are welcome to bring them – just make sure objects have a hole in them for adding them to the warp

Woven Bookmarks is one part of a workshop series called Strands of Regeneration. Started by artists Ellie Irons and Azuré Keahi, Strands of Regeneration is an eco-socially engaged project rooted in participatory art and creative practice centered on reciprocity, building connections between humans, the land and more-than-human life. Hosted on the Sanctuary’s inner city Eco Art Trail, these workshops offer an opportunity to learn from local artists and makers whose creative practices are intertwined with care for land. Together, we will weave plant fibers and other strands into art and objects from natural materials as an act of care and reverence for earth, celebrating how this cycle of care supports our movements.

Facilitator Bio: Ángela Bartlett (@rain.over.earth) creates hand-stitched, handwoven art and jewelry inspired by folk traditions and the natural world. With a BFA and years of farming and textile work, she founded Rain Over Earth Studio in 2025 to craft pieces that connect people to the earth through color and fiber.
