DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual Plant Swap at the Collard City Growers garden! This is a free event for the community to get together and exchange plants for the spring season. Stop by to pick up some plants\, drop off any extras that you don’t have room for\, or just come on by to say “Hi!” \n\n\n\nWhere: 3337 6th Ave\, Troy\, NY 12180 \n\n\n\nWhat is a plant swap? An opportunity to share plant abundance!  \n\n\n\nHow to participate? Bring your extra plants and/ or saplings to trade for something new\, including perennials\, annuals\, house plants\, and more! You don’t have to bring a plant to participate. \n\n\n\nWhy participate?  It’s an amazing excuse to explore the garden\, soak up the sun\, and meet some new people and plants! \n\n\n\nAnd remember: All the plants that you give and take are free!

DESCRIPTION:Community Radio Days are opportunities for folks to gather around the importance of community radio. Every month a different Hudson Mohawk Magazine producer leads a discussion or exercise\, and anyone is welcome to join. Topics range from how to create grassroots radio\, pursuing a story\, creating a community\, and amplifying lesser heard voices. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer producer or if you just want to be a part of community around the importance of civic journalism\, join us! \n\n\n\nHMM Community Radio Days take place on the first Monday of each month (unless it’s a holiday)\, and we serve some light food and beverages. If you are interested in joining the discussion but are remote\, please email HMM@mediasanctuary.org in advance for a zoom link. \n\n\n\nTimeline:4:00-4:30pm: arrive\, meet our producers\, get some food\, settle in4:30-5:30pm: group discussion around radio (this takes place in our basement in the colder months. SUMMARY:Be The Dance Party! feat. Rev. Billy & Stop Shopping Choir
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Sanctuary for our second annual Be The Dance Party!\, an event which emphasized spaces for joy and celebration as acts of resistance. This event is part presentation\, part dance party\, this year featuring Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Choir\, a radical performance community focused on justice issues.   \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here\n\n\n\n\nBe The Dance Party! begins with a participatory presentation by Reverend Billy and the Stop Shopping Choir inside the Sanctuary main space followed by a march around our North Troy block and a dance party in Freedom Square. This is a family-friendly event. \n\n\n\nThe Reverend Billy character isn’t so much a parody of a preacher\, as a preacher motif used to blur the lines between performance and religious experience. “It’s definitely a church service\,” Talen explained but\, he added\, it’s “a political rally\, it’s theater\, it’s all three\, it’s none of them.” Alisa Solomon\, the theater critic at the Village Voice\, said of Reverend Billy’s persona\, “The collar is fake\, the calling is real.” Along with the Church of Stop Shopping\, they have been referred to by academics as “performance activism\,” “carnivalesque protest\,” and “artivists.” \n\n\n\nThe Stop Shopping Choir is a radical performance community based in New York City\, with members coming to the Choir from many different creative and activist backgrounds. They have evolved a very particular sound and performance experience from the synthesis of our lived experience\, and are grounded in the work of Justice and in service to the Earth. They love to Sing together.
