SUMMARY:Third Annual StoryHarvest: A Celebration of Art and Food from Seed to Table with Don Byron New Gospel Quintet & Nawal
DESCRIPTION:Just as farmers reap the harvest\, providing sustenance for all\, it’s time to celebrate all our harvests–the results of seeds sown through art\, education\, agriculture\, tolerance\, and everything we do to build strong\, healthy communities! Join us at Freedom Square (101st Street where 5th and 6th Avenues meet)\, for our Third Annual StoryHarvest\, featuring food\, music\, and arts activities. Join a tour and celebration of the proposed Collar City Ramble\, an all-access path through and around Troy. Start downtown and end up at Freedom Square for the StoryHarvest festival with prizes\, food\, and music. At Freedom Square the afternoon starts with a musical collaboration between Don Byron and local artists\, sharing the cultural traditions of jazz and gospel. Don Byron New Gospel Quintet\, which revisits Thomas A. Dorsey’s gospel works as well as lesser-known gems\, is joined by local music stars\, and Nawal\, “mystic pop diva” from the Comoros Islands in the Indian Ocean\, who dazzles with her Sufi-inspired collection of songs.  Celebrate the journey of a growing community network dedicated to sustainability at Freedom Square!
