SUMMARY:HMM Community Radio Day
DESCRIPTION:Community Radio Days are opportunities for folks to gather around the importance of community radio. Every month a different Hudson Mohawk Magazine producer leads a discussion or exercise\, and anyone is welcome to join. Topics range from how to create grassroots radio\, pursuing a story\, creating a community\, and amplifying lesser heard voices. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer producer or if you just want to be a part of community around the importance of civic journalism\, join us!  \n\n\n\nHMM Community Radio Days take place on the first Monday of each month (unless it’s a holiday)\, and we serve some light food and beverages. If you are interested in joining the discussion but are remote\, please email HMM@mediasanctuary.org in advance.  \n\n\n\nTimeline:4:00-4:30pm: arrive\, meet our producers\, get some food\, settle in4:30-6:00pm: group discussion (this takes place in our basement in the colder months. SUMMARY:Woven Bookmarks
DESCRIPTION:Lead by Ángela Bartlett with Azuré Keahi\n\n\n\nIn this workshop we will use small looms to weave bookmarks integrating plant fibers found in our local landscape. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nParticipants have the option of bringing strands they’d like to weave into their project or share with others (Think of it as a fiber potluck!). Fibers that are a standard yarn thickness will be easiest to weave with. These might include fabric scraps\, ribbon\, hand-spun wool\, etc. If you want to add tiny embellishments like buttons\, shells\, beads or charms\, you are welcome to bring them – just make sure objects have a hole in them for adding them to the warp \n\n\n\nWoven Bookmarks is one part of a workshop series called Strands of Regeneration. Started by artists Ellie Irons and Azuré Keahi\, Strands of Regeneration is an eco-socially engaged project rooted in participatory art and creative practice centered on reciprocity\, building connections between humans\, the land and more-than-human life. Hosted on the Sanctuary’s inner city Eco Art Trail\, these workshops offer an opportunity to learn from local artists and makers whose creative practices are intertwined with care for land. Together\, we will weave plant fibers and other strands into art and objects from natural materials as an act of care and reverence for earth\, celebrating how this cycle of care supports our movements.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFacilitator Bio: Ángela Bartlett (@rain.over.earth) creates hand-stitched\, handwoven art and jewelry inspired by folk traditions and the natural world. With a BFA and years of farming and textile work\, she founded Rain Over Earth Studio in 2025 to craft pieces that connect people to the earth through color and fiber.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nStrands of Regeneration is supported by the Arts Center of the Capital Region’s Arts Thrive Grow grant program. Arts Thrive and Grow has been funded by New York State\, Kathy Hochul\, Governor.
