We’re proud to offer a home to one of the few Peace Poles in the Capital Region, which welcomes each visitor who enters the Sanctuary.
A Peace Pole is an internationally recognized symbol of our global aspirations for Peace on Earth 
(www.peacepoleproject.org). Each pole bears the message May Peace Prevail on Earth in different languages on each of its four or six sides. Our pole calls out in English, Arabic, Hebrew and Spanish. There are tens of thousands of Peace Poles in nearly every country in the world!
Our pole was planted during our 9/11 workday and is part of the Emma Peace Poles Project (www.facebook.com- Peace Pole Project for Emma) which celebrates the life of a young peace warrior whose 21st birthday was 9/21/10, the UN International Day of Peace. 
Emma Casey was an amazing human being who touched many hearts and lives in the 15 years that she was here on Earth. Emma passed away on June 13th, 2005.
In honor of the peace that Emma tried her hardest to spread around this universe, Emma’s community has rallied for over 6 months to finance the planting of at least 21 peace poles around the globe. By Spring 2011, installations will include sites in Peru, Long Island, Saratoga Springs, North Carolina, Palestine, Vermont and Israel.
Our pole is notable in that it was financed entirely from the redemption of cans and bottles which were foraged in the Capital region.

We are swarming with the energy and creativity born of our rich history and we are surrounded by inspiring global musicians, the Beehive Collective, Troy Bike Rescue and other local and regional activists. While citizens gather in DC on Saturday to create what will hopefully be a massive demand for peace and justice at home and abroad, come join us as we learn from each other, bless our Peace pole and dedicate ourselves to our own paths to Peace.”
